Health, Safety and Environment
Health, Safety and the Environment are key focus areas at Accelerated, and our commitment to these principles forms an important part of how we conduct our business. We are committed to delivering mining services in a responsible manner that ensures the wellbeing of all people on the mine, as well as the local community. To this end, we are not only committed to full compliance with all legal requirements placed upon us but seek to exceed such requirements.
Like the rest of the mining industry, Accelerated is committed to the principle of zero harm with the goal that every mineworker should return home unharmed every day. We also support VISION ZERO, which is a global prevention strategy developed by the International Social Security Association (ISSA), targeting a working environment in which nobody is injured or killed. The Minerals Council is a proud member of ISSA Mining and a key driver of VISION ZERO in the mining industry throughout Africa.
We actively participate in initiatives that develop and support vulnerable members within our local communities and are strong advocates of educational upliftment programs for youth in South Africa.
Skills Development
Skills Development has always been a key focus area in our organization. We believe in empowering our employees and local communities through educational development initiatives, and by equipping them with the necessary skills to advance. We offer a number of Skills Development initiatives ranging from soft skills training, educational support for formal training programs, training of mining cadets, practical training of mining graduates and numerous other educational initiatives.
Accelerated has recruited 40 youth from the local community and has embarked on a journey of formally and practically educating them to ensure that they are professionally qualified in the engineering and mining disciplines in the future. We hope that some of these program graduates will one day offer future leadership to the mine in particular, and indeed the broader mining sector in general.
